Claremont, California – Claremont Medical Plaza was selected by the City of Claremont Architectural Commission as a recipient of the 2008 Excellence in Design Award in the categories of Sustainable Development, Landscaping, and Public Art.

Established to recognize and encourage high quality design projects, the Excellence in Design Awards ceremony will take place on May 13, 2009.

Claremont Medical Plaza is located at 1601 Monte Vista Avenue, on the corner of Monte Vista Avenue and Claremont Boulevard. This state-of-the-art health care facility was developed and is owned by StoneCreek Company. Ware Malcomb provided architectural, interior design and graphic design services for the 50,000 square foot two-story Class A multi-tenant medical office building. The first floor is occupied mainly by Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, and the second floor was designed to support multiple tenants with various medical uses with individual suites ranging from 1,500 square feet to 7,000 square feet. Ware Malcomb’s graphic design studio provided signage design for the facility, including building identification, tenant identification, urgent care, wayfinding, suite identification, room identification, code related signage, and interior and exterior LEED signage.

The project is currently registered with the U.S. Green Building Council for LEED Certification and is targeting LEED Silver level. Major sustainable features of the building include: storm water management plan reducing contaminated site runoff into city infrastructure, reduced water consumption through drought tolerant landscaping and irrigation system, reduced electricity consumption through efficient mechanical systems, construction waste management plan which recycled and/or diverted 75% of construction waste from landfills, and indoor air quality management plan to reduce contaminants.
